Nick O’Neil joined WEST as a Field Coordinator in the Golden Valley, Minnesota, office. He first joined WEST as a Field Technician in Iowa in June 2017, conducting post-construction surveys on wind energy projects, before advancing to a Crew Leader position in January 2018. Other work with WEST has included whooping crane surveys, greater prairie chicken lek surveys, and barn surveys.
Nick holds a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from Lake Superior State University, and a M.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Lethbridge; where his research focused on ruffed grouse drumming behaviors. Nick has previous experience in greater prairie chicken telemetry and trapping through the University of Illinois Natural History Survey and waterfowl monitoring in the tar-sand oil operations of northern Alberta.
