Kurt Smith joined WEST as a Research Biologist in the Laramie Office. He grew up in the eastern U.S., but has lived and worked in Wyoming since 2008. He holds a B.S. in Biology from Mansfield University, an M.S. degree in Fisheries Ecology and Management from Southern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Wyoming. His recent research has primarily focused on ecology and management of prairie grouse, but he has also researched big game and their relationships with energy development, as well as fish movement ecology using novel techniques.
