Gregory Johnson


Greg Johnson has been an ecologist with WEST since 1991. Greg received a B.S. in Wildlife Conservation and Management and a M.S. in Zoology and Physiology from the University of Wyoming. He has over 29 years of consulting experience in wildlife and ecological studies. Greg is a Certified Wildlife Biologist through The Wildlife Society, a Professional Wetland Scientist through the Society of Wetland Scientists, and a certified Senior Ecologist through the Ecological Society of America. His specialty areas include wildlife research with an emphasis on contaminants and wind power development; endangered species; wetland delineation, mitigation, and functional value assessment; and vegetation sampling. Greg has supervised 17 field studies to assess effects on terrestrial and aquatic wildlife of pesticides and other contaminants throughout the U.S. Over the last 21 years he has studied wind-wildlife interactions at proposed or existing wind energy facilities in 19 U.S. states and Alberta, Canada. Greg is a member of the National Wind Coordinating Committee Wildlife Working Group, Wyoming Bird Records Committee (Chair), and Western Field Ornithologists. He is the author or coauthor of 49 professional journal articles, book chapters, or peer-reviewed proceedings papers and an author/coauthor of 61 presentations at scientific meetings. Greg has also been a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Wildlife Management, Wildlife Society Bulletin, Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Journal of Applied Ecology, Ecological Applications, American Midland Naturalist, International Journal of Zoology, PLoS ONE, and the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
