Vegetation Sampling & Plant Surveys
WEST’s expert staff conduct rare plant assessments and surveys for county-, state- and federally-designated sensitive plant species, as well as Endangered Species Act listed species. We can evaluate project impacts to rare plant communities, and design and implement mitigation measures to address these impacts.
WEST provides classification and mapping of vegetation in a variety of community and ecosystem types throughout the western United States, including detailed descriptions of habitats and identification of component flora. Our past projects have included vegetation monitoring in systems ranging from shortgrass and coastal prairies to mixed coniferous forest and coastal salt marsh. We have completed baseline studies and short- and long-term monitoring studies for projects involving range inventories, grassland restoration, wetland/riparian restoration and mitigation, and soil erosion analysis.
