David Wegner joined WEST as the Science Coordinator for the Middle Rio Grande Endangered Species Collaborative Program being managed through the Albuquerque, NM office of WEST. David has over 40 years of working on western water, climate and energy issues. His career includes over 20 years of service with the Bureau of Reclamation, 14 of those coordinating and managing the Glen Canyon Environmental Studies and adaptive management program in the Grand Canyon. Additional experience includes starting up and managing an international environmental consulting group in Durango, CO. From 2009 through 2014 he was Staff Director for the Water and Power Subcommittee for the House of Representatives and Senior Staff for the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Since leaving Washington DC he has focused on addressing western water, climate and coastal impacts. He presently serves on the National Academy of Sciences, Water Science and Technology Board.
