Grant Gardner

GIS Specialist

Grant has been with WEST since August of 2010 as a GIS Specialist. He graduated with a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Richmond in 2008 and got his M.A. in Geography from the University of Wyoming in 2011. Before joining WEST, Grant instructed courses in Geographic Information Systems at the University of Wyoming and spent several seasons as a field biologist for the Klamath Bird Observatory, Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Grant’s work and experience with WEST focus primarily on spatial data management and cartographic support for biological and environmental studies, with an emphasis on development and analysis of ecological covariates as they relate to wildlife resource selection and habitat suitability. Though his academic background is in birds of the Western U.S., Grant greatly enjoys both the geographic and taxonomic diversity of WEST’s work.
