J.R. Boehrs is a G.I.S. Specialist at Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. He received a B.A. in Geography: Natural Resources
Management from the University of Wyoming in 2007. Prior to coming to WEST J.R. spent a field season collecting fire fuels
data on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation in Central Oregon with the Student Conservation Association.
J.R.’s duties and experience with WEST include wind farm map composition for site characterization studies including
aerial/orthoimagery, topographic, wetland, NED, and land cover maps. Pre-construction and post-construction avian, bat,
habitat survey mapping and potential/existing infrastructure mapping. State and federal DNR mapping of listed sensitive,
threatened and endangered species, species of concern, and areas of importance. Geodatabase management; creating and editing
vector and raster GIS data; on the fly digitizing, and aerial/orthorimagery and topographic interpretation. Density
calculations for land cover, wetlands, and potential infrastructure of wind farms.
J.R. enjoys backpacking, bouldering, fishing, and travel.
