Energy & Power

WEST has been a leader in the field of energy project impact assessment, monitoring, natural resources research, and permitting since 1990. WEST has successfully worked for stakeholders involved in energy issues, including state and federal agencies, industry, consultants, utilities, and conservation organizations. Our team includes professional scientists and statisticians that understand wind energy development and operations and have strong relationships with local and regional staff within the US Fish and Wildlife Service and other federal agencies, such as the Bureau of Land Management, as well as state and local agencies.

Renewable Energy

WEST has successfully worked for stakeholders involved in renewable energy issues, including state and federal agencies, industry, consultants, utilities, and conservation organizations. The most significant of these has been and continues to be wildlife studies to support commercial wind and solar energy development.

Oil & Gas

Our scientists have years of experience in supporting projects throughout the US and Canada in the oil, gas, and mining sectors. This experience has included study design, data collection, preparation of documents, and consulting with state and federal agencies.

Mining

For decades, WEST has offered comprehensive natural resource solutions to the mining industry. Our experts can assess existing conditions at proposed and existing sites, develop restoration and mitigation plans to lessen environmental impacts, and help clients achieve regulatory compliance.

Utilities

WEST possesses a thorough understanding of natural resource regulations, agency requirements, and issue resolution relative to linear project construction, operation, and maintenance. Our personnel have worked on all aspects of environmental permitting and compliance for linear projects, including transmission and distribution lines.

Power Infrastructure & Monitoring

Awareness of bird and other wildlife interactions with power lines is of key concern to agencies, industries, and the public. This includes conventional and renewable electric generation, transmission, and distribution on private, state, and federal lands.

Pipelines

WEST’s extensive experience conducting surveys for various types of pipelines and pipeline construction projects includes large multi-state pipeline projects and smaller intrastate pipeline projects throughout the US.
