Elizabeth Lack Elizabeth Lack has been a botanist with WEST since 1999. She received a B.S. degree in Forest Biology from Colorado State University in 1988. Elizabeth has extensive experience in botanical and wetland work, including rare plant surveys, noxious weed surveys, vegetation classification and mapping, and vegetation inventory and description. Her wetland work includes delineations based on identification of wetland plant and soil characteristics, designing and monitoring created wetlands, and wetland function and value assessments. She is also experienced in related hydrological work, such as stream and water body inventories and riparian surveys. Elizabeth is highly experienced working in the field, often leading teams in remote or semi-remote locations, and has worked in habitat types ranging from wetland and riparian habitats to grasslands, shrubland, desert, and forest habitats. Her work has been focused in the western United States including work in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, and Kansas. She is also familiar with the miombo woodlands of central Africa. Elizabeth served as a Peace Corps volunteer, living and working in Zambia on a forestry project while on a 2-year sabbatical from WEST between 2005 and 2007.

In addition to field work, Elizabeth is an accomplished technical writer and editor, having authored numerous technical reports. She has also been involved in a number of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) projects. She is familiar with all phases of the NEPA process and has been project manager or task leader on many Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental Assessments.
