J.R. Boehrs

GIS Specialist III/GIS Team Leader

J.R. Boehrs is a G.I.S. Specialist at WEST.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in Geography: Natural Resources Management from the University of Wyoming in 2007. Prior to coming to WEST J.R. spent a field season collecting fire fuels data on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation in Central Oregon with the Student Conservation Association.

J.R.’s duties and experience with WEST include map production for site characterization studies, environmental assessments; environmental impact statements, baseline studies, APPB, fatality monitoring, golden eagle risk assessments, whooping crane analysis, IN bat risk assessments, bird/raptor use, sensitive species, and habitat surveying throughout the continental US. Whooping crane habitat suitability analysis for projects in IL, IN, KS, NE, OK, and TX. IN bat habitat suitability for projects in IL and IN. Potential impact analysis for land cover, habitat, & wetlands for pre & post‐construction project infrastructure throughout the continental US. Golden eagle risk assessments and viewshed analysis for surveys throughout the western US. Sage-grouse habitat density/disturbance analysis in WY. Playas quality assessment in TX. Geodatabase management, modeling, creating and editing vector and raster datasets, creating and editing of FGDC standard metadata, on the fly digitizing, georeferencing, and aerial/orthoimagery and topographic interpretation. Project experience primarily related to Wind energy but also in wetland and water resource work.

J.R. lives in Cheyenne, WY with his wife Katherine & son Thatcher. J.R. enjoys backpacking, camping, snowshoeing, fishing and a variety of outdoor activities.
