David Tidhar has been a Research Biologist and Project Manager for WEST since 2005. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from the University of Montana, Missoula in 1997 and a Masters of Science degree in Ecology from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland in 2000. David's M.S. thesis was an investigation of the behavioral and short-term spatial effects of recreational human disturbance on red deer on a Scottish estate. He has 12 years of experience working with wildlife in 15 U.S. states as well as Scotland and England. David previously worked for Idaho Fish and Game Department, the U.S. Geological Survey Colorado Plateau Research Station, Arizona Game and Fish Department, the University of Aberdeen (U.K.), The Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (U.K.), The Macaulay Institute (U.K.) and HawkWatch International. He has worked on a variety of research and consultancy projects principally related to assessments of the potential effects of human activities on wildlife, population dynamics, and inventory and monitoring.
David's work for WEST has included studying the potential effects of wind power, cellular tower and linear pipeline construction on wildlife, as well as acting as Field Supervisor on a range-wide population level survey of golden eagles in the western U.S. for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He is currently acting as a Project Manager for WEST on wind power projects in several Northeastern and Southwestern states. David is a member of the Ecological Society of America and the Raptor Research Foundation.
David is the Branch Manager for the WEST Northeast satellite office located in Waterbury, VT, where he lives with his wife, Wendy, and dog, Sally. He is an avid ski-mountaineer and hiker who enjoys spending as much free time as he can muster outdoors.
